Response-Ability

Here’s a really quick blog post that could keep you thinking for a much longer time than it takes to read this…

A few weeks ago after coming back from my mom’s and all the experiences around saying goodbye to someone you love, I realized that I hadn’t “fallen apart” physically or emotionally.
In the past, I would have gotten ill, I would have pulled muscles and a very sore and fragile body.
After I came home I went for my monthly Shiatsu appointment for bodywork, and my body worker pointed out that my body felt good! And I concurred!
We started talking about “response-ablity” and how by doing the work necessary for a healthy mind, body and spirit in advance, that you may not notice all of the positive changes that you’re going through at the time you’re going through them, but you sure will notice when there are times of adversity and you sail through the adversity!
By being ABLE to RESPOND differently than in the past, you can have a much brighter future…You can have a lot more EASE in your life.
And when the going gets tough, you won’t have to be concerned about the impact after the tough is done…because you’ll know that your resilience is stronger and able to withstand the “tough”.
So start now with small changes that will positively impact your physical, mental, emotional wellness.  Start with something as small as chewing well (to help overall digestion; it REALLY helps!), turning off any blue light screens 15 minutes earlier before bedtime for a better night’s sleep, noticing more of what you’re grateful for than what bothers you, taking 3 deep mindful breaths once a day, drinking a glass a water instead of coffee/soda/energy drink…There are SO many small things that will have a big impact over time – both for the positive and negative – so focus on those things that will pay you back in “ability” when your “response” is put to the test.
