Everything is Connected

We Are All Unique

All Things Matter

Are seemingly “normal” symptoms part of your daily life that you just accept or tolerate?  How are you limited by your health?  Would you like things to be different?

When was the last time you truly felt vibrant health?  How would you define vibrant health?  Have you EVER felt it?

Understanding WHY you feel a certain way is half the battle, knowing WHAT  to do and HOW to do it to help yourself feel even better is the second half.  Root Cause Resolution helps us to zoom in on the target issue and help make your changes more permanent.  Anke grew up not feeling well; with digestive issues that lead to frequent illnesses such as minor as colds and flues, to more serious IBS and immune compromised function.  It’s lead her on a lifelong quest to help others help and heal themselves using education, nutrition lifestyle and mindfulness to obtain whatever level of health they wish and are able to obtain.  When you feel good, all other things are able to fall into place, and it’s easy to help others.

Currently, Anke offers functional nutrition counseling to those who wish to better understand how to embrace good health and put into practice daily habits that will move them further up the scale to better wellness; this road is paved by understanding the root cause of your wellness issues.  As a Board Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor, Anke is able to help at an even deeper level and zero in on the unique things that you may need based on your lifestyle and level of health!

Often when we are making changes to our health, there are things that can help us to accelerate our healing and the changes that we’re making, but what are they? Some people are fine moving at a pace that is not dictated by a needed “end time”, while others would rather see the change form much quicker, especially when it comes to something like hormone balance, weight loss or being more free from pain and less limited.  Mind, Body, Emotion, Physical – what do I choose, where do I go first?  Let Anke help you to clarify your focus as she walks along side you.

To get started, Contact Anke and we’ll schedule your Discovery Session today!

In addition, Anke offers Online Programs that are either “Fixed Date” (start and end on a specified date) or “Evergreen” (available to start anytime).  Check out which courses are offered and whether an online option is better suited for your immediate needs!  But don’t forget to take the assessment, it’s less than 2 minutes and will give you free resources to explore as well as a better understanding of where it might be best for you to start!

What is Functional Nutrition Counseling?

Functional Nutrition Counseling is an individual and personalized program, tailored to best fits your needs.  Just contact Anke for a no-pressure opportunity to experience nutrition counseling, see if there’s a connection, and to determine if working together is the best choice for you! During our conversation, the process evolves organically providing clarity for which path to take.  Whatever we discover, the ongoing process of uncovering your needs and working to help resolve them is a continuing process and will evolve based on your unique requirements.  Ultimately, it’s making sure that your needs are met and the things you wish to shift have changed for good.

We explore the 3 roots, many branches* that help us to better understand the root cause of what your health needs are, and what you can do to not only feel better, but to get well.

These 3 roots are:

  • Genes
  • Inflammation
  • Digestion

Based on these 3 roots, we can delve into all of the related factors that affect them.  These factors are typically the things that we associate with being either unwell or feeling good.  For instance, our genes are effected by our environment, food, movement, lifestyle and mindset.  This means that each of those factors have either a positive or negative affect on our genes and our level of health.  By focusing on one or more of these factors, we can change how our genes affect our well being.  This means we have a LOT of control for our level of health, and most of the time we’re only using a fraction of the percentage of control that we have.  You CAN change your health for the better more than you think!

As we explore these roots and the factors around them, we can create a roadmap uniquely designed for you to help you find your path to performance.  In addition, where testing may be needed to clarify your needs, Anke offers testing that includes and is not limited to; hormone balance, digestive balance, food sensitivities, heavy  metal testing, and mineral imbalances to name a few.  All of this truly helps us to identify what might be contributing to the root cause of the issues at hand.

The Goals of Functional Nutrition Counseling are for you to:

  1. Accomplish much more than you have in the past and feel a greater more permanent sense of success.  This is not “another diet”, this is a lifestyle.
  2. Become aware of the things that will promote your health, enrich your life, and be able to easily let go of the things that won’t.
  3. Empower you to discover how to make a healthier decision when faced with challenging choices. Give you these skills so that they’re lifetime tools for you to use whenever the situation arises. This even applies to old ingrained habits, and foods cravings like sugar and starchy things!
  4. Understand how much you can influence your level of health by understanding the 3 roots, your root cause and how each factor effects them and your daily decisions around your wellness.

Whatever your needs, if you are looking for someone who works with you with empathy, patience and understanding, Anke can help. Anke will meet you where you are, and help you soar to the heights of where you want to be!  You will get accountability, support and someone who listens and hears you.

  Move from:

Eating emotionally to enthusiastically using food for fuel, not to fill an emotional gap

Inflammation and pain to balance with comfort

Eating foods that don’t work with you to craving the foods that do work for you

Feeling helpless to understanding the role your 3 roots play and empowerment

  Poor digestion to optimal digestion

Confusion around supplementation to a program created just for you

  Feeling Helpless to Empowered!

My Approach

With this discovery of what proper nutrition for you and YOUR unique body can do for you, comes habit change as well.  This is where Anke is uniquely equipped to help you not only uncover what changes need to be made, but HOW to make them.  You are fully supported with any coaching necessary for you to make positive changes that will stick.

Often when we are making changes to our health (mind/body), there are things that can help us to accelerate our healing and the changes that we’re making. Some people are fine moving at a pace that is not dictated by a needed “end time”, while others would rather see the change form much quicker, especially when it comes to something like weight loss or being free of pain.  Either way, Anke does not follow a “quick fix” approach, rather an approach that gives you a time, pace and process that helps you change for the long term, and change for good.

Anke is the professional to help fill in the gap between your other health practitioners and your process of change.  Your other professionals are typically not equipped to help you one on one with your journey as you better understand what YOU need in order to make a permanent change, Anke is.  Your other professionals are focused on their areas of expertise, Anke works with your other professionals to help you put the principle of all they shared to an active purpose, and ultimately a change for good for you.

Using the co-active coaching approach means that we develop your customized plan together. You already have all the answers that will help you achieve your goals! I work together with clients to help them identify and reach goals that they may have been struggling with in the past. I help them figure out what’s important to them, and then together, we set an action plan, uncovering blocks that may have hindered them in the past. Then I make sure they have support, tools and the systems they need that help them stay on track, and then they establish how they’d like to be held accountable to their action steps. Finally, I ensure that the goals they’ve reached remain permanent, so that they don’t slip back to their old habits and end up where they started.

Working with you to become your own health advocate is paramount to me.  I love puzzles or a great mystery, and I’m naturally curious.  Taking things apart and putting them back together again often gives us a new perspective on an old situation, one that seemingly may have seemed difficult or hopeless in the past.  RSNFG™ (ridiculously small no-fail goals™) and realistic action steps are the cornerstone to forward movement.  In addition, there’s no one more equipped to create your long term solutions than you.  With the right tools, outlook and re-framing you WILL empower yourself in a way that provides strength, courage and success in whatever you take on, even if (and especially) if it’s to say “no”!

In addition to Functional Nutrition Counseling, I also offer the use of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and distance Reiki, with your permission,  if we find that those modalities will help you with your goals.

Who I Work With

The people who come to me for functional nutrition counseling are typically:

  • Women 30+ years who are in hormonal transition (stages of menopause)
  • Women 30+ who are in life transition (empty nester, new relationship, divorce, moving, new career, stress etc)
  • Women 30+ who have digestive and/or inflammatory issues
  • Amateur and professional women equestrians (because we never have pain or life balance challenges, right? ;))
  • Anybody who wants to get to the root cause of their wellness issues!

Ultimately, I can work with anyone who has a health or life counseling need, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you don’t see “you” listed above.  Remember, we are all connected, we are all unique and all things matter!

I have Lyme disease and had a severe hip injury followed by surgery and never felt like myself afterward. Joint pain, inflammation, brain fog, insomnia, weakness, anxiety, and balance and digestive issues became the norm for me. I met Anke and made a meaningful connection with her and my journey to wellness began.

Anke has a wealth of knowledge and will take a deep dive to assist her clients. The methodology she uses to help create balance within the body is extensive. GI-Map protocols, testing, and individualized learning sessions guided me to a comprehensive wellness plan that was incredibly successful. She taught me the correct way to approach the way I eat and move throughout the day.  She taught me how to change my lifestyle in a way that honors my needs.

My experience working with Anke has been immensely successful. Anke’s dedication, kindness and genuine concern for mind and body harmony has helped me get back to a better normal.  Anke is a gifted practitioner and I highly recommend her.

The Functional Nutrition Counseling Process

1. Introductory Discovery session

  • The purpose of the 60-minute telephone session is to provide an opportunity for you to find out what Functional Nutritional Counseling is and what working with me is like. It also gives me the opportunity to better understand your needs and make sure that I’m the right professional for you.
  • If you chose to move forward with the nutrition counseling, together we chose the best package for your needs, and schedule our intake session.

2. Initial Sessions (Intake session-Premier Case Review [PCR] #1 and #2)

  • Each PCR session is usually 1-2 hours long, based on your needs. I set aside 2 hours. It takes place either face to face over Zoom, or over the phone. Prior to the session you will fill out a general information gathering questionnaire that will help guide our work together (although this is a “living” document so anything you want to change as we move through the coaching is fine).
  • At the end of the intake I will have a good picture of your overall situation: your main challenges, your most important goals, what’s important to you, what you’re willing to and NOT willing to do, as well as necessary background information. If there are any medical concerns, I will have you complete a medical questionnaire that will allow you to proceed with the counseling.

3. Counseling Process

  • After the intake session, we start the counseling process! This consists of sessions by phone or face to face via zoom videoconferencing if you wish.  If you are local, there are opportunities to meet in person in my office.  The frequency of the session will be based on our discussion during the intake, and can change as we move through the counseling process. Each session length is typically 45-60 minutes when we first start counseling, and as you move through the counseling process we can schedule sessions for 30 or 60 minutes based on your ongoing need. At any time you can check in with me via your personal HIPPA compliant client portal. “Just in time” 15 minute phone coaching sessions can be scheduled as well as a support measure. We will also determine who would be best to support you as we work together.
  • During our session, we’ll determine any testing that could be done, review your habits over the last week, talk about your wins/challenges, introduce new concepts and tools, and the things that matter most to you. Since I follow a co-active coaching approach, we will brainstorm and explore how you can best overcome challenges given your tools and things accessible to you. At the end of the session you will always have a specific action plan, including clearly outlined steps to take, resource materials and things to consider before our next session.  The real change happens in between sessions as you implement your new skills and create new habits.

To get started, just Contact Anke and we’ll schedule your Discovery session today!
