Health & Life Coaching

How can I make better habit changes that actually stick?

Whose mind and body is this anyway?  I don’t recognize “me” anymore.

What’s up with this belly fat, these hot flashes, this anxiety?

What can I do to find true balance in my life regardless of what happens around me?

The body you once knew in your younger years is no longer responding to exercise and diet the way it once did in the past, and the advice that you’ve gotten hasn’t helped to decrease the belly fat.  Your hormones are changing as you navigate menopause, and things that were once easy to overcome are now leaving you frustrated, tired, angry and stuck.  Restorative sleep is a thing of the past so you’re often tired and without energy, and the hot flashes and night sweats…oh, the hot flashes!  Muscle that was taken for granted is now difficult to maintain, and stressors are becoming more difficult to manage.

Your focus and ability to retain information is not what it used to be, and “brain farts” and “not knowing the words” and “doohicky’s” are all too common.  All of this leads to a decreasing level of confidence in a once confident you, and you question your abilities as you navigate through your day.  Your mood is less than inviting, not only to others but also to you as you live with a mind and body that is becoming more and more unrecognizable, foreign and frankly not a fun place to be living in.  You don’t tolerate things well because you lack energy and feel stressed,  it’s a never-ending cycle that doesn’t seem to be getting better.

You’ve tried to make lasting, positive changes time and time again, only to have short term success, or no success at all.  You’re doing all the “right” things to create change, but your daily life commitments keep you from gaining positive change, it’s a new paradigm of life balance between work, family and self care.  You have great intentions and a solid plan which you try to execute yet again, only to lose ground and to find yourself being reactive once more.  The feeling of scarcity seems to be the new norm.

Your self worth has taken such a beating that the negative voice in your head is chatting in a constant and self-depreciating manner;  you don’t need anyone else telling you you’re “not enough”, you are your own worst critic.

What if you could find your “center”, and operate from a place of balance from that center, anytime, anywhere?  What if you had the tools to always be able to find that center no matter what curve ball life threw your way?  What if the habits that you formed ADDED to your life instead of creating chaos or damage?  What if you harnessed your strengths, lived by your values, understood your soul desires and had a clear vision and purpose so that you could Thrive instead of just Survive?

What if you were able to find a movement and wellness plan that actually supports you and helps you to decrease the unwanted belly fat, find fitness without constant injuries, sleep well so you have the energy not just to get THROUGH the day, but to SEIZE the day again?  What if?

Your mental and physical health is your most valuable asset, which I learned many years ago when mine was compromised. Approaching health from a holistic perspective that included addressing mind, body and emotional support was the game changer.  It wasn’t just diet and exercise, in fact it was more about decreasing the daily stressors so that my body could re-balance in all three areas, and revitalizing my self talk and belief in myself.  I incorporated life balance, targeted nutrition (no, not a diet, but rather using “food for fuel”), supplementation to fill any gaps, and self-growth to give myself permission to do things outside of the mainstream and set aside the daily guilt and shame.  I also used a targeted approach to support the specific physical areas in my body that needed it to help with healing in those areas because we are all unique, everything is connected, and all things matter.

If all or some of this speaks to you, and you can relate to it,  I offer a Discovery Session  that will allow you and I to get to know each other.  During this consult, we can determine whether my coaching is a good fit for your needs, and if we are a good match as a client and coach team.  We can also determine and prioritize which services will help you to move forward towards your goals and your positive change, as well as making sure that your resources of time and budget are taken into account.

In addition, Anke offers Online Programs that are either “Fixed Date” (start and end on a specified date) or “Evergreen” (available to start anytime).  Check out which courses are offered and whether an online option is better suited for your immediate needs!  But don’t forget to take the assessment, it’s less than 2 minutes and will give you free resources to explore as well as a better understanding of where it might be best for you to start!

What is Coaching?

Life, Health and Leadership Coaching are offered through our individual coaching programs, choose which area of coaching best fits your needs. Not sure which one is your jam? Just Contact Anke for a no-pressure, opportunity to experience coaching, see if there’s a connection and determine if coaching together is the best choice for you! During our coaching program, the process evolves organically in such a way that you may be dipping into all three areas of coaching. Whatever your needs, there’s no additional charge for how many areas of coaching you delve in to; coaching is coaching, it’s making sure that your needs are met and the things you wish to change have changed for good.

Individual coaching is a process that provides very effective support, tools, guidance and accountability for anyone who has set a goal, failed to achieve it, or failed to make it a permanent change. In other words, you may just be stuck and need another perspective to see clearly again.  Coaching happens in a judgement-free zone that focuses on you and your needs.  We eliminate things such as expectation and comparison that can cause us to feel guilt, shame or “less than”.  Rather, we focus on your strengths, core values, beliefs and create a trusting connection of client and coach so you can move forward to reach your goals one step at a time.

Coaching is not therapy.  If there comes a time during our coaching where we agree that therapy may be a good addition to your journey or that it’s best to replace therapy with coaching, Anke will make sure to discuss this with you.

The Goals of individual coaching are for you to:

  1. Accomplish much more than you have in the past and feel a greater sense of success.
  2. Become aware of the things that will promote your health, enrich your life, and be able to easily let go of the things that won’t.
  3. Teach you to discover how to make a healthier decision when faced with challenging choices. Give you these skills so that they’re lifetime tools for you to use whenever the situation arises. This even applies to old ingrained habits, and foods cravings like sugar and starchy things!
  4. Share with you the “process of change”, so you can apply this process to other areas of your life after your coaching is complete. It’s empowering you with a process, a system, not a one time situational “fix”.

A Discovery Session can be very valuable in determining what program would best suit your needs. By doing the demo, you get a chance to experience what coaching with Anke would be like, and Anke will have the opportunity to make sure that she’s the best coach for your needs.

Whatever your needs, if you are looking for someone who works with you with empathy, patience and understanding, Anke can help. Anke will meet you where you are, and help you soar to the heights of where you want to be!

Move from:

Overreacting or reacting to responding in a mindful, confident, authentic manner

Feeling lack to being able to draw from multiple tools and abundance

Evading and procrastinating to proactive and participating

Feeling like an imposter to feeling confident, sure and in alignment

Compressing to expanding (in all 3 areas of mind, body and spirit!)

Bracing and resisting to releasing and relaxing

Victim to victor!

My Approach

Often when we are making changes to our health (mind/body), there are things that can help us to accelerate our healing and the changes that we’re making. Some people are fine moving at a pace that is not dictated by a needed “end time”, while others would rather see the change form much quicker, especially when it comes to something like weight loss or being free of pain.

Using the co-active coaching approach means that we develop your customized plan together. You already have all the answers that will help you achieve your goals! I work together with clients to help them identify and reach goals that they may have been struggling with in the past. I help them figure out what’s important to them, and then together, we set an action plan, uncovering blocks that may have hindered them in the past. Then I make sure they have support, tools and the systems they need that help them stay on track, and then they establish how they’d like to be held accountable to their action steps. Finally, I ensure that the goals they’ve reached remain permanent, so that they don’t slip back to their old habits and end up where they started.

Working with you to become your own health advocate is paramount to me.  I love puzzles or a great mystery, and I’m naturally curious.  Taking things apart and putting them back together again often gives us a new perspective on an old situation, one that seemingly may have seemed difficult or hopeless in the past.  RSNFG™ (ridiculously small no-fail goals™) and realistic action steps are the cornerstone to forward movement.  In addition, there’s no one more equipped to create your long term solutions than you.  With the right tools, outlook and re-framing you WILL empower yourself in a way that provides strength, courage and success in whatever you take on, even if (and especially) if it’s to say “no”!

In addition to Coaching and Functional Nutrition Counseling, I also offer the use of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and distance Reiki, with your permission,  if we find that those modalities will help you with your goals.  You can see more about energy work on the Services page.

Who I Coach

The people who come to me for coaching are typically:

  • Women 30+ years who are in hormonal transition (stages of menopause)
  • Women 30+ who are in life transition (empty nester, new relationship, divorce, moving, new career etc)
  • Women 30+ who have digestive and/or inflammatory issues
  • Amateur and professional women equestrians (because we never have pain or life balance challenges, right? ;))

Ultimately, I can coach anyone who has a health or life coaching need, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you don’t see “you” listed above.  Remember, we are all connected, we are all unique and all things matter!

Sheri T Shares her story…

It’s taken me a while to write this, mostly because I don’t quite know how to put in to words how much you have helped me.  “Helped” is not an adequate word for it.  Encouraged, is maybe a better word for your coaching.  I was a little hesitant at first, not knowing what to expect.  I have a big problem with lack of motivation.  I knew that I needed a kick in the pants, but it had to be in a gentle way, without judgment.  Too harsh and I knew I would drop out, not enough and it wouldn’t help.  That is exactly what you gave me.  During the time that we were having our weekly coaching sessions, I looked forward to our calls every week.  My family started looking forward to them also.  :~)  As you know, when I first started with you, I was ready to sell my horse and give up on riding all together.  My life was just too out of control, I just didn’t have time.  It was breaking my heart.  You have taught me how to prioritize ME and my time with my horse, Magic.  You have taught me about my Vital Self and how to honor and nurture her.  You have also taught me that putting everyone else before myself is counter-productive, because if I am not nurturing myself, I will use me up.  The well will dry up.  You also taught me how to recognize the Gremlin who tries to sabotage my daily life and well-being.  These are some of the things that have really stuck with me.  I can’t thank you enough and still look forward to our calls.

The Coaching Process

1. Discovery Introductory session

  • The purpose of the 60-minute session (phone or via zoom) is to provide an opportunity for you to find out what coaching is and what working with me is like. It also gives me the opportunity to better understand your needs and make sure that I’m the right coach for you.
  • If you chose to move forward with the coaching, together we chose the best coaching package for your needs, and schedule our intake session.

2. Initial Session (Intake session)

  • This session is usually 1-2 hours long, based on your needs. I set aside 2 hours. It takes place either face to face over Zoom, or over the phone. Prior to the session you will fill out a general information gathering questionnaire that will help guide our work together (although this is a “living” document so anything you want to change as we move through the coaching is fine).
  • At the end of the intake I will have a good picture of your overall situation: your main challenges, your most important goals, what’s important to you, what you’re willing to and NOT willing to do, as well as necessary background information. If there are any medical concerns, I will have you complete a medical questionnaire that will allow you to proceed with the coaching.

3. Coaching Process

  • After the intake session, we start the coaching process! This consists of sessions via zoom videoconferencing, phone or if you’re local face to face in my office.  The frequency of the session will be based on our discussion during the intake, and can change as we move through the coaching process. Each session length is typically 60 minutes when we first start coaching, and as you move through the coaching process we can schedule sessions for 30 or 60 minutes based on your ongoing need. At any time you can check in with me via email. “Just in time” 15 minute phone coaching sessions can be scheduled as well as a support measure. We will also determine who would be best to support you as we coach.
  • During our session, we’ll talk about your wins/challenges, introduce new concepts and tools, and the things that matter most to you. Since I follow a co-active coaching approach, we will brainstorm and explore how you can best overcome challenges given your tools and things accessible to you. At the end of the session you will always have a specific action plan, including steps to take, resource materials and things to consider before our next session.  The real change happens in between coaching sessions as you implement your new skills.

A Discovery Session can be very valuable in determining what program would best suit your needs. By doing the demo, you get a chance to experience what coaching with Anke would be like, and Anke will have the opportunity to make sure that she’s the best coach for your needs.
