Lovely to meet you!
Understanding WHY you feel a certain way is half the battle, knowing what to do to help yourself feel even better is the second half. Anke grew up not feeling well; with digestive issues that lead to frequent illnesses such as minor as colds and flues, to more serious IBS and immune compromised function. Later as she went through menopause she suffered from insulin resistance and other issues that lead to weight gain and weight loss resistance. It’s lead her on a lifelong quest to help others help and heal themselves using education, nutrition and mindfulness through functional nutrition and lifestyle changes to obtain whatever level of health they wish. When you feel good, all other things are able to fall into place, and it’s easy to help others.
Anke’s path to coaching and consulting began with her own personal struggles with a debilitating digestive dis-ease in the early 1990’s, when she began to study the effects of diet, environment, exercise, and attitude on one’s overall vitality and well-being. Gaining a better understanding of how much we can do for our own health was life changing for her both personally and professionally.
She is an advocate to those who wish to change their lives and health for good. Root cause resolution is the primary basis regarding your physical, mental and emotional healing. When we focus on the root cause, we know that we’ll be affecting change in the right direction and for the long term. When it comes to making change, Anke bases her work on the premise of “no force, no brace”. Anke believes that making change with guidance and love, and without undue pressure or fear is a healthier way to make change permanent. She helps people with a “slow and steady” approach, taking things one step at a time knowing that each small step will lead to big things, and in the long run is a faster approach to change instead of the quick fix or a “band-aid” approach. She not only believes this approach, it’s her personal practice as well!
She is a lifelong athlete, equestrian, a Board Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor, Functional Nutrition Leadership Practitioner, Board Certified Professional Health, Life and Leadership Coach, AFAA certified fitness trainer, Certified Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) practitioner and Reiki Master practitioner. She is devoted to helping her clients realize how productive they can be and how empowered, motivated and terrific they can feel once they take charge of their health and life on their OWN terms. Building self worth and self confidence through wellness is another cornerstone that’s vital to feeling well in all areas of your life.
In her past life, Anke studied Chemical Engineering at the University of South Florida, was a Connected Riding Instructor II, had a 20 year career in the financial and insurance services industries, and started her career life as a Certified Animal Health Technician specializing in exotic birds and mammals.
Anke’s passion is helping others succeed with their goals and find their joy, through creating a solid foundation in health and in life. For anyone, Anke helps people clarify their health goals, sift through the vast amount of well care information that’s available, and then offers a variety of modalities including coaching, consulting, and intuition to ultimately achieve what’s important to them. For the equestrian, she enjoys incorporating equus into the healing and wellness process for the equestrian by using intuition and guidance reflected from the horse. Although Anke is no longer teaching riding, she uses the wisdom and intuition gained from working with horses for a lifetime.
In her personal time, you’ll find Anke laughing on the trails, doing working equitation in the arena, or just simply hanging out with her Morgan horse Guinness. She’s also an avid outdoors woman, loves walking with her dog Radar, running on a wooded trail, kayaking, biking with her husband and son, and enjoying a nice glass of kombucha (buch!) on the back porch glider.
From Anke: “I won’t lie, I’m a nutrition and feel good nerd. Not the obnoxious kind that makes you want to run away screaming, but the kind that is fascinated by how the body works, from a picture perfect poop to happy balanced hormones! In fact, I’ve nick named myself the “Func Nut”! Coming from a past where “feeling good” wasn’t the norm, my natural overly curious mind wanted to figure out and ponder the puzzle of why some people feel like crap and are limited, and others feel fantastic and are limitless in their endeavors. And it’s not just the physical aspect of health that’s important to me, it’s also the mental, emotional and spiritual components that help us to understand and find our true center, and then be able to balance towards center whenever we wish (because “balance” is dynamic, not static). Our current culture is one that often times moves us from who we really are, to someone who learns to “fit in” to society in order not to rock the boat. I say, rock and capsize the boat if needed in order for you to live a full life…YOUR life to the fullest! If you have physical limitations that are holding you back, let’s address those. Did you know that when you work on one area of your life, let’s say improving your physical health, that all other areas of your life will also shift and change? So if anxiety is part of your daily routine, you may find that by changing your physical health, that your mental health will also improve. Everything is intertwined, and those are the puzzle pieces that I love to work with; taking the pieces apart, sorting them, finding the edge pieces and then filling in the middle one section at a time. When you’re done, the tools you’ll have will be priceless, because you’ll be able to face most anything with confidence, health and the assurance that what you set out to accomplish will be done, be it resolving a health concern, a pain issue, a life balance shift or just living your life fully, you’ll be clear on why you want to do it, how to do it, and what you’ll need to get it done! And it’s all done with love, kindness and understanding.”
